Why it's Onboard

When we actively transitioned our Leopard 45 into a fully remote liveaboard cruiser, we decided to install these modules onto our Yanmar 4JH45 engines. That was in 2022, and we’ve not regretted it.

Based on our extensive experience using them out on the water, we genuinely believe these modules have massive potential to benefit cruisers; we are consistently maintaining higher average speeds while retaining the exact same or even less fuel consumption, depending on the conditions.

Real-world Verdict

The most noticeable difference we experience is that our engines are significantly more responsive and quicker to accelerate. This simple change makes it dramatically easier to confidently turn the heavy catamaran and physically compensate for high crosswinds, especially when docking. Furthermore, in conditions where we previously had to run two motors simultaneously to make headway at 6 knots, we now only need to run one. That saves engine wear and fuel, which are two huge benefits. Finally, since the engines now have an optimised tune, it's eliminated the need to rev the engines periodically to clear carbon buildup.
