When we outfitted out yacht we chose to buy the Ocean Signal MOB1 as our personal AIS beacons. Thankfully we haven't had a man overboard situation yet but we like the security of knowing we have the devices, especially when sailing at night or having to go outside to adjust the sails in rough seas.

This style can be integrated into a life jacket or worn securely on your person, which makes it more convenient to wear while underway. Ours are now about 2.5 years old and so far have passed all of the routine functionality tests with flying colours.
