Why it's Onboard

Our catamaran was originally equipped with Jabsco pumps but after experiencing a few frustrating malfunctions early on, we wanted a more reliable alternative. After doing some research we decided to give the Johnson SPX Flow series a try. It was delivered to Gibraltar by SVB and installed in early 2022.

Real-world Verdict

The Johnson pump was incredibly easy to install since it was basically plug-and-play, and it has coped no problem with over four years of heavy, full-time liveaboard use. Unlike the previous pump, it also allows us to use the galley sink and the shower at the exact same time without any discernible drop in pressure. 

We’ve had such great success with this freshwater pump that we eventually swapped our saltwater washdown pump over to a Johnson model too, and bought a second identical unit to keep as a spare just in case!
