Southport Kitchen Tap

Price Range: $200 - $300
The American Standard Southport is a stylish kitchen tap with an extended vertical tap profile. It provides additional physical clearance between the tap head and the sink basin compared to standard faucets.
Why it's Onboard
The original kitchen tap on our Leopard 45 catamaran was too low for our daily use, proving to be an annoyance when trying to get under it to cook and clean. We discovered that the mounting hole in our bench was a standard size, so decided to upgrade to a new tap with more functional clearance.
Higher clearance that makes dishes and rinsing food easier
Makes the boat feel more like home
Real-world Verdict
The American Standard Southport tap dropped directly into the original galley faucet mounting hole without modification. To connect the American plumbing fittings to our boat's standard BSP connections, we needed to get some adapters from a chandlery, along with plumbing tape and food-grade silicone grease. As a final installation step we swapped out the supplied hose weight for a smaller, denser weight, so it wouldn’t interfere with the back of the fridge that’s installed under the sink.
While the tap was a bit of a splurge, it does make the boat feel more like our own home with our own sense of style, and functionally, it’s significantly better than the old tap. Changing out this part isn’t something that jumps to the front of mind when upgrading a yacht galley, but it’s a fairly simple task if you want to do it.
