The DJI Osmo Action line is a series of rugged, heavily waterproofed action cameras designed to capture high frame rate 4K footage without needing an external dive case. These cameras feature highly convenient instant-record functions, replaceable front glass lenses, and a clever magnetic clip system that lets you securely swap between various mounts in seconds.

Why it's Onboard

After our GoPro Hero 9 Black completely failed less than two years after purchasing it, which was incredibly disappointing. Despite suffering no impacts or water ingress, it started turning itself on and off, and starting and stopping recordings at random. I did some research and decided to try an entirely different brand.

The large internal image sensors and case-free waterproof ratings of the DJI Osmo Action series are what initially drew me in, because those features perfectly suit the constantly wet reality of our sailing vlog. Add to that our positive experiences with the DJI drones, and I knew this was the direction I wanted to go.

Real-world Verdict

We have been impressed with the overall reliability of the DJI Osmo Action range. Our camera has coped flawlessly with the harsh reality of boat life, including jungle waterfall exploration, rough tender rides, and underwater scuba dives. The image stabilisation is excellent, and the depths it can do without a case are impressive.
